All the Leaves are Brown: Amira's Mini Resist Technique Project

Hello Crafty Readers!

Let's say goodbye to March with one final project from our March Kit..... Amira's resist technique tags. These are just AWESOME!!

Resist Technique

I'm back with a little project today.
I have taken the Tim Holtz stencil with both gel medium and mod podge ...

And applied it to the Autumn Day paper by Pebbles.

The mod podge dried flat and clear ...

While the gel medium dried raised and clear.

After that, I applied black paint ALL OVER the paper, and then wiped away the areas where the mod podge / gel medium were. These resisted the paint so you could see the pattern of the paper underneath.

I then added a cut apart from the collection and some jute string to decorate the card front

A few drips of Heidi Swaps Gold Shine (becasue thats what the arty people do)..

Here are both tags side by side.

Watch my process video here :)

Tune in HERE if you missed my post on how I made those leaves in the second card on the right (yes MADE THOSE LEAVES).

Happy crafting

All the Leaves Are Brown - Amira's Mixed Media Backgrounds

Hello Crafty Readers

Grab your stencils.... your pastes.....and anything else that comes to hand!
It's Mixed Media Tag Day and Amira is having a blast!!

Hello dear crafters,

I am officially dubbing March the month of mixed media!
I have been having a blast.
All you have to do is give me a stencil and I go GAGA for mixed media.

Today I focus on the Tim Holtz leaf stencil and the Nuvo glimmer paste from the March Kit

I used a Prima Tag here and just added some bright acrylic paint to the background.
I then added Nuvo glimmer paste through the leaf stencil and look how beautiful this turned out. Stay tuned to later in the post to see how I finish this tag

On 2 separate backgrounds, I placed the stencil across the bottom of both of them and added texture paste to one half of each background and gel medium across the other. I wanted to see the difference in the texture.

Here you can see the sheen of the gel medium. Remember this is basically glue and it does dry clear.

After drying...

Once again on this background, I added gel medium and texture paste to one half.

After drying, this is what it looks like.

I noticed that when I used light and bright acrylic colors, the texture paste was very light and not as bright white as it is when it is first applied.

And when I used dark colors, the texture paste appeared almost a brilliant white and maintained its opacity.

Here are some more tags I made (because I just fell in love with the whole process and I didn't want to stop until I ran out of texture paste and gel medium!)

This background is a special one. I added perfect pearls to the gel medium while it was wet!
Love the irridescence.

Do you remember this original tag with the Nuvo glimmer?

Well, since it was dimensional, I didn't want to cover it up so I decided to use an acetate overlay.

To do that, I grabbed some from my stash and started working ...

I used a cut apart from the Pebbles paper collection from the March Kit.

And layered it over the tag..

Added some gorgeous gold wash and some jute string!

Oh happy day indeed!

For the second background, I thought it would be fun to use this acetate by We R Memory Keepers.

Add another cut apart ...

and the border from one of the 12 x 12 sheets as well as a little fussy cutting!

This beautiful little gnome family has stolen my heart!

I then decided to stamp on the acetate sheet using Staz-On

Looks good!

Some tweeting and chirping

A little sentiment and some washi with some jute in the background

I think the pink bull dog clip finishes it off very nicely.

One more....

I particularly love how the stamped sentiment casts a shadow on the background.
Makes it look very interesting.

You can flip the acetate over to have a closer look at the background on its own.

Once you sit down to finish backgrounds, it gets easier to just go through your stash and pull out what you haven't played with in a while and start making some beautiful pieces.
Here, I pulled out a Prima doll and did some paper piecing.

See those 2 friends at the bottom there!!
So cute!

On this background, I stamped the Dina Wakley bird on vellum

On this background, I pulled out my Dyan Revealey birds!

This one is my favourite!
Here I dripped alcohol inks on the acetate and watched it drip all the way to the bottom of the card.

I adore this one!
My favourite by far.

So go on!!
Pull out a stencil and grab some texture paste and some paint and start creating background!!
Then go through your papers and your stamps and see what calls to be made.
I dare you!

Happy crafting :)

All The Leaves Are Brown: Donna's Little Bag of Notes

 Hello Crafty Friends!

Are we ready for more March Marvellousness?
Join Donna today as she shares a little bag full of happy notes.....

Well I think this is the last of my projects for the month of March with
Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft... What a wonderful kit this has been
and some of my favourite colours so I am happy lol..

I have created this little bag of note cards that measure 4 inches x 3 inches...
I had so much fun doing this and it was my favourite project of the month..

I punched holes in the bag and used the Jute String from the kit to close it..
You have to love this note card front ..

Side view of the bag.. I inked around the edges
to make it stand out better.

The bag opened and as you can see where the holes were
punched out.. This little bag held 9 cards quite easily..

I inked around all of the note cards and attached them to a
card base measuring 3 inches by 8 inches folded in half..
All the notecards have bling, Kindy Glitz and Glossy Accents somewhere..

1... For this notecard I fussy cut the fox and raccoon and
adhered it using 3D foam tape..

2... A border on the side and a punched leaf stop this little guy
being boring..

3... I like this one because it is different.  The corners were scraps
leftover from The Cottage roof..

4... A metal leaf embellishment and Jute String was perfect
for this note card..

5... This is different, I made a hinged shaker for the front
of this note card..

It wasn't until I made it that I realised the apples were sideways lol..

6... I had little bits left over from a door so I adhered them to the top
of the gnome hats.. I then punched out tiny leaves and fussy cut
a butterfly..

7... For this note card I die cut a door and added
different paper for the door panels..

8... Feeling Blessed is a lovely notecard and was simply
created by placing some Washi Tape
on both sides..

9... How cute is this note card!! A fussy cut butterfly
and a border on the side and it was done..

I love owls and I knew this had to be the front of my bag...

All 4 projects together...

Like I said I love this colour range and it was so easy to create
something.. I hope you like what I did and browse through the blog to see what the other Creative Team members created as well...
